Bioscience technologies students advance to international HOSA competition

Congratulations to the seven Bioscience Technologies students who advance to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla, June 21-24!

For the third year in a row, the Biomedical Debate team won first at the state competition in Toledo April 19-20. This year, the team consists of Neha Badam, Katie Blowers, Iman Faqih and Sreekar Miriyala. Jessie Sharp won second place in Clinical Specialty and Dolores Pacheco and Clair Varney won third place in Forensic Medicine. All are juniors at Gahanna Lincoln High School.

Additionally, Badam and Ian Slaughter, a Gahanna senior, will be recognized at the International Leadership Conference with the Barbara James Service bronze award for each having 100-175 volunteer hours. Kaylea Dillon, a Gahanna senior, was recognized with the silver award for volunteering 175-249 hours in this past year. The award recognizes individual HOSA members who have a commitment to community service in health.

Lydia Liao and Kaitlynn Rittinger, both of Gahanna, will be representing Ohio on the Healthcare Issues exam. They placed in the top 10 percent in the state on the exam, which is designed to encourage HOSA members to investigate, analyze and apply their knowledge of current health-related issues.
