Dear Gahanna-Jefferson community,

Safety in our schools always is our priority. At approximately 9 a.m. Gahanna Middle School South entered into a brief outside threat lockdown procedure.

Gahanna police officers were in pursuit of an individual on Caroway Blvd. Within minutes the individual, a 22-year old male, was intercepted. He was in possession of a firearm, which he has a permit to carry. At no time was this individual inside our school buildings or on school grounds. This lockdown was initiated as a precautionary measure.

We appreciate the swift action taken by the Gahanna Police Department, and their continuing commitment to the safety of our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Steve Barrett
