Mrs. Lauren Cook’s second grade class at Goshen Lane Elementary got a head start on the #gjspSeasonOfGiving last month when one of her students came to her with an idea. Mia McGarity wanted to raise money for children who have cancer and cannot afford their medication.

At about the same time, Mrs. Cook became aware of a third grade child in Dublin, Ohio who just had a bone marrow transplant and whose family was in financial need due to medical costs.

The class decided to make, market and sell “slime” and beaded bracelets to raise money for their special project.

In late October, the students made enough slime for each student to sell two small containers and one bracelet to family and friends. The students also designed their own flyers on their Chromebooks and printed them to market their merchandise.

After families donated the supplies for the project, the class was able to raise $200 for the young girl in Dublin.

What a wonderful act of kindness that also taught some great entrepreneurial skills!
