The Freshman Experience
What is the Freshman Experience?
The Freshman Experience is an environment created exclusively for freshman to help them in their transition from middle school to high school. The program focuses on students being able to belong, explore, learn and grow in the greater Gahanna Lincoln High School community and beyond.
In order to assist in this, freshmen have a dedicated administrator and counselor. Most questions about a freshman student should be directed towards them. Their contact information can be found to the left.
Freshman Experience Mission Statement:
- Everyone feels welcome.
- Everyone has the opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities.
A day exclusively for freshmen! In the morning, students work with Link Crew members on relationship building activities to allow them to get to know some of their peers. In the afternoon, students go through a mini-schedule of their school day. During this time, students get to find their classes and meet their teachers.
Freshman Foundations is an informative assembly meant to educate freshman on a wide range of topics. Including high school graduation requirements, GPA, getting into college, and becoming involved in the school. In addition, upper classmen speak to the freshman about their personal experiences, pitfalls to avoid, and words of advice.
'Commit to Graduate'
Jostens provides a presentation on the importance of a students’ high school career and the impact those four years can have on the rest of their lives. At the end, students add their names to a banner which signifies the students committing to the goal of graduating high school.
The Freshman Tailgate is held on a Friday in the fall, before a home football game. Join us for Food, Music, Fun and Games! Event is free for all Freshmen, please bring your student id.
