7th grade boys had a great team win last night against Westerville Blendon, winning 33-12.

8th grade boys lost a tough one last night at Westerville Blendon, 50-37. Leading scorers were Hayden Stoecklin with 11 points, followed by Johnny Jenkins with 10.

7th grade girls pulled out the win against Westerville Blendon, 36-16. The team was led by Katherine Shaffer with 14 points, and Delaney Bethea with 13.

8th grade girls bounced back with a big win last night, winning 44-9 against Westerville Blendon. The team was led by a stellar performance from Haedyn Hull who scored a season high 27 points, which is just 4 points shy of the school record for scoring in a single game. The Lady Lions improved to 8-4 on the season with the win.


Wednesday, January 19, 2022

The combined East/South wrestlers traveled to Rosemore Middle School last night. The Lions pulled out an extremely close win, defeating them 42-41. The team had wins by pin by Layne Parker, Joe Falzone, Jaidon Haines, Alex Marcum and by forfeit by Caedmon Clark, Emma Abrams, and Dylan Helbig. The Lions also had exhibition wins by pin for Ben Bell, James Burkett, Jaidon Haines, CJ Ervin, and Marshawn Lee-Gaines. Additionally, Caedmon Clark won a close exhibition match by points, 13-12.


Registration for Spring sports at South is open. Boys Track, Girls Track, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Tennis, and Girls Softball are available to all 7th & 8th graders. If you are interested in participating in a Spring sport, you must register on Final Forms http://gahanna-oh.finalforms.com/ and have a valid OHSAA Physical http://www.ohsaa.org/medicine/physicalexamform on file. Spring sports will begin in February.

We will have sign-up sheets in both 7th & 8th grade lunch periods for all Spring sports on Tuesday, January 11th.

Attention 8th grade boys interested in trying out for the high school boys soccer program in 2022. Incoming 2022 freshman (current 8th graders) will have a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd at 7pm. Parents are welcome to view the meeting with their student. To attend the meeting, go to http://http://meet.google.com/%E2%80%8B and type the code GLHSSoccer22. The meet will open for logins at 6:55pm. We will discuss the schedule for conditioning as well as summer activities. Pay to Participate Middle School Girls Tennis

Pay to participate contributions are used for the upkeep of athletic facilities, equipment, uniform purchases, and coaches salaries.

Exceptions and PTP Fee Caps:

  • Any student-athlete that qualifies for the Free & Reduced Lunch program will not be assessed a PTP Fee.
  • A $250 Family Cap will be in place for any family where multiple children participate in athletics at the Middle School.

Refunds for PTP Fees will only be granted retroactively to a student-athlete that suffers a season-ending injury. Student-athletes that either quit the team, or are removed from the team for eligibility or disciplinary purposes will not be refunded.
