Dear Gahanna-Jefferson families, As the pandemic continues to evolve, we understand families must make decisions that are best for them. We have worked hard to honor learning model changes as families have requested them. However, our distance learning classes at the elementary and middle school levels for the second semester have reached capacity, and we do not have available staffing within the district to add new sections. Though it was our goal to maintain distance learning classes with GJPS teachers, our current situation and the number of changes we have experienced have created the need to partner with SchoolsPLP, a third-party provider. SchoolsPLP will accommodate any new Gahanna-Jefferson families who want to transition their students to distance learning from this point forward. If you find yourself considering a switch for your student(s) from hybrid to distance learning, please contact your school’s principal to discuss this further. If you decide to move forward, we will do all we can to ensure a smooth transition to distance learning with SchoolsPLP. We know the pandemic is an evolving situation, and flexibility is needed to meet every family’s needs. We will continue to support our GJPS families during this time. Sincerely, Steve Barrett Superintendent Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools
To our Gahanna-Jefferson Schools Community, We are looking forward to our return to school after the break. I hope you all were able to enjoy safe time with your families during the holiday season. As a reminder, GJPS teachers have a professional development day on Monday, January 4, 2021. On Tuesday, January 5, hybrid students will resume their regular schedule, and distance learners will continue in remote instruction. As we return to learning, we will continue to focus on maintaining the safety of our buildings, continuing all health and safety protocols, and providing a healthy teaching environment for students, teachers and staff. We will continue to work with our COVID Task Force, a committee made up of health professionals in our community and district nursing staff, for guidance. I hope all of you have a safe and Happy New Year! Thank you, Steve Barrett Superintendent Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools
