Dear GJPS parents, guardians, and staff,

We recently received updated guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) regarding isolation and close contact guidelines that we would like to share with our school community. This guidance changes the isolation requirements for positive individuals from 10 days to 5 days if symptoms have resolved and provides other considerations for parents when students are identified as a close contact.

As a reminder, Ohio House Bill 244 requires both vaccinated and unvaccinated students to be treated equally and unless FCPH issues a quarantine order specifically to your student, the decision to self-quarantine is left to the parent/guardian.

The role of our school families in monitoring symptoms is extremely important to maintain school in person and students should stay home if symptoms on the child participation algorithm develop.

We will continue to distribute BinaxNOW At-Home Rapid Test Kits while supplies last from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 2:30 p.m each day. These test kits can be used to detect an active COVID-19 infection and are available for pick up after completing the Rapid Test Request Form at the GJPS Administration Building, 160 S. Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.

Please note, students or staff identified as positive with COVID-19 on or before December 29, 2021, may return to school on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, if symptoms have resolved.

Thank you for your continued partnership and vigilance to do all we can to prevent the spread of the virus.

Sincerely,

Steve Barrett
