Dear GJPS community,

On behalf of the board of education, I am pleased to announce the selection of our next superintendent for Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools.

Pending board approval at a special meeting on May 9, 2022, Dr. Tracey Deagle will assume full superintendent duties on August 1, 2022. Starting May 17, Dr. Deagle will serve as a part-time consultant and begin visiting buildings to meet staff and introduce herself to the GJPS community.

Dr. Deagle is an experienced educational professional with over 22 years of experience in public education. Currently an Assistant Professor of P-12 Educational Leadership at Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia, she has held increasingly responsible roles in education throughout Ohio. Beginning as a classroom teacher for eight years at Van Wert City Schools, Dr. Deagle served as assistant principal at Hilliard Darby High School before becoming principal at Ann Simpson Davis Middle School and deputy superintendent at Dublin City Schools.

Dr. Deagle received her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and obtained a Master of Public Administration from Indiana University. She received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton and has held several faculty positions in higher education.

Dr. Deagle impressed the board with her visioning and strategy skills, passion for public education, ability to unite many different perspectives around common goals and solutions, and strong background in developing a supportive and thriving culture. We look forward to working together as we continue to support our mission to inspire, nurture, and empower all students.

Dr. Deagle shared that she is excited and honored to have been chosen to lead the students and staff of Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools. She is thrilled to begin and will start with a listening tour in the upcoming weeks.

Dr. Deagle and her family will be relocating to the Gahanna area.

Sincerely,

Beryl Piccolantonio, President
