Each middle school now has 1.5 school counselors whose primary job is to work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all. Ms. Artis is primarily the 7th and 8th grade counselor.
Our new school counselor, Ms. Jaclyn Lubinski is primarily the 6th grade school counselor. She will only be in our building part time. Her contact information is lubinskij@gjps.org and 614-782-3075. This does not mean that the two school counselors will not sometimes work with students outside of their grade levels.
Additionally, the school counselor sets up an appropriate schedule for students, coordinates the standardized and achievement testing programs, and works with the elementary schools and high school to promote a healthy transition to and from middle school for each student.
Middle school counselors also do what they can to assist students with academic, social or emotional problems either at school or at home. Please be aware that each middle school has roughly a 1:400 counselor to student ratio to meet the needs of students.
